Top 10 Destinations I've Been and Will Definitely Return To (Part 1)

I started this blog to publish my future travels & trips but because they will not be happening in the near future (My first trip would be in July, so that's 15 days from now) allow me to share with you first the Top 10 destinations I've been.

Note: Since my passion for traveling was only awakened to its fullest recently, the destinations that will be mentioned here are not that grand, not the typical tourist destinations and are more of visits not travel (hahaha).

1.   Sagada, Mountain Province - I've been to Sagada twice, my first visit was in 2012 for a 3d2n tour and the second was a one day short trip in April 2013. Sagada is famous for its hanging coffins, magical caves and majestic waterfalls. I especially enjoyed my first visit since I was able to visit more of its attractions and of course I get to share the fun with my coolest friends. Here are the things that I enjoyed most during my visit at Sagada and I suggest you try them too when you get the chance to go there:

a. Spelunking - Sumaguing & Lumiang Cave Connection (It's a little bit challenging but its all worth it, trust me)
b. Trekking - Bomod-ok Falls (Big Falls - it's literally big especially on rainy days in the month of July)
c. Bonfire - Lake Danum (This is really cool, you get to play with the fire, scare each other by sharing ghost stories and a lot more)
d. Drinking Session and Mingling with the Locals (and Foreigners) - Kimchi Restaurant (During my recent visit, a foreigner flirted with me and kissed me on the cheek, I guess she's just drunk and having a good, really good time..^^)

2.   Hong Kong - The shopping district of Asia, this would have been so true if only I had the resources to shop 'til I drop keke. Like Sagada, I was able to visit Hong Kong twice. The first was in 2009, a trip to HK gift from my Mom for passing the CPA board exam and the second was in 2010 care of Cebu Pacific, a free round trip ticket voucher. (dont ask me the details how I got the free round trip ticket, its a long story keke.) Here are the things that I enjoyed most during my visit at HK and I suggest you try them too when you get the chance to go there:

a. Ocean Park HK -  marine mammal park, oceanarium, animal theme park and amusement park (The baby pandas were really cute, the cable car ride is exciting and the ticket price is cheaper compared to DL)
b. The Peak Tramway - the only way to really experience the beauty of HK. (The view of high-rise buildings especially at night is magnificent)
c. Shopping @ Mong Kok, Tsuen Wan & Tsim Sha Tsui - Affordable clothes, gadgets and many more. (I was able to shop some items, thanks to my aunt who lives @ HK for sponsoring me keke.)
d. HK Street Foods - a taste of authentic Chinese food at a cheaper price from the streets and stalls that can be found anywhere.

3.   Macau - is across HK to the east and just a ferry away, is best known as the "Monte Carlo of the Orient". A 2d1n side trip to Macau happened during my second visit to HK in 2010. Cost of living is a little bit expensive but thanks to my Mom, she sponsored all my expenses during the trip keke. Here are the things that I enjoyed most during my visit at Macau and I suggest you try them too when you get the chance to go there:
a. The Venetian Macau- the sixth largest building in the world by floor area and the largest casino in the world. (All the stores sell expensive stuffs nevertheless it has no entrance fee and the transportation is free keke)
b. Macau Tower - it offers the best view of Macau. (I was a little bit sad because I wasn't able to try the bungee jumping, AS IF!?)
c. Ruins of St. Paul's - a 16th century structure. (In my opinion it is best viewed at night, coz it glows keke)
d. Casino Hopping - Casinos are everywhere. (Thank God I'm already in legal age when we visited Macau and I get to try the slot machine and actually won 150 HK dollars keke)

4.   Boracay - a paradise island in the Philippines #itsmorefuninthephilippines or should I say a not-so-paradise island in the Philippines. Many tourists are disappointed with Boracay nowadays due to the  prevalent commercialism in the island, overly populated due to the influx of visitors, etc. But in my opinion, Boracay is still one of the places to be to beat the heat of summer. With its clear blue water, fine white sands and the never ending party for everyone! I mean Boracay is not the place when you're alone and you want a moment of solitude and peace but it is the best place to have the greatest party with your friends.

5.   Nueva Vizcaya - I know, this is not your ordinary tourist spot, and I'm a little bit biased with my decision to include this. This is where most of my relatives from my father's side are settled. But wait, that is not the only reason why I included this to my list. Recently, my brother discovered a virgin waterfalls from Kasibu, a municipality of Nueva Vizcaya and when we visited it, I fell in love with the place. The Edralin Falls is 30 minutes away from the town proper of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya. It is the perfect place for family outings and barkada trippings because it's not crowded so you can have the place all for yourself (just like we did when we went there). However, Edralin Falls is not the only place to visit at Nueva Vizcaya, here are some of the places in NV that I recommend:

a. Edralin Falls - I dare you to take a plunge into the freezing cold water of Edralin Waterfalls. (Beat the freezing cold water by jumping 6-8 meters high using the ramp located at the tip of the waterfalls)
b. NV Capitol Plaza - The capitol plaza of Nueva Vizcaya is known as the "Luneta of the North", this is where you can interact with the locals. (Activities such as boating and biking can be found here)
c. Paraiso Tribu Vizcayano - A new attraction added to NV, an eco-tourism park where you can enjoy a lot of activities while becoming one with nature.

So there's the first part of the Top 10 destinations I've been and been meaning to return to in the near future. I hope you enjoyed this post and watch out for the Part 2. *(00)*

My First Blogging Experience and the History of Tra-abel

Blogging has never been my forte, I hate, or more truthfully, I am lazy constructing long paragraphs just to put into words the things that are running in my mind. One thing I don’t like about blogging is doing it in English but I have no choice because I want my blog to be of help (in any way possible) not only to my countrymen but also to other nationalities. Ah basta English kasi is the international language keke. And to serve as a waiver, English has never been my strength when I was still studying (so that explains the poor construction of my sentences and sometimes or most of the times wrong grammars you can find here in my blog, LOL).

Blogging for me is a tedious and sensitive job. Tedious because it consumes a lot of your time (and effort, keke) while not getting a financial benefit from it (pero sana in due time, I hope I can earn from it, chos). So yung mga kumikita sa pagbablog ayos ayusin nyo trabaho nyo at least ako kahit pa sabihing pangit ang pagbablog ko masasabi kong hindi naman ako binabayaran para gawin to. Evil laugh ^(00)^ !!.. Sensitive in a way because you have to religiously review every blogs you post because a blogger has the responsibility for every article he posts on his/her blog. I am a fan of the GMANewsTV slogan “Think before you click”.

So much for the introduction, lemme tell you the story of how I got into this blogging thingy. Keke. I was inspired to create my own blog because I want to help other people to have the information they need by sharing with them my travel escapades. So expect helpful articles to be posted on this blog (I hope I can meet your expectations) and amazing photos from my travels. Traveling is one of my passion, maybe it started when I was still in my mother's womb keke, kidding aside, I love traveling because… ahmm.. becauseahmm.. I don’t think I have an answer for that. Traveling for me is like Love, you cannot define it, you don’t have a specific reason for it. You just have to feel it, you just have that feeling that you need to travel, vague and cheesy, but that’s how I really feel.

So when the itch on my feet (not the athlete’s foot due to fungal infection) was already unbearable, I didn’t have enough strength to fight it, the realization dawned on me that traveling is like love, you cannot run away from it, you just have to give in and fall for it. I decided that I need to scratch it (figuratively speaking), that I need to experience it and that I need to do it. And so I asked myself, H-O-W and W-H-E-N?

How???? This was the first question in my head, how can I cater my needs of traveling if being an auditor is
as busy as EDSA (busiest road in the Philippines). How can I find time for my travels? So, with those question circling my head, I weighed my priorities, I tried to find the balance between my work and my passion, I tried to ask myself plenty of times, “if not now, then when?”  I found the answers to these questions deep in my heart. Live your life to the fullest, cliché but so true. We were only given this lifetime, so why not do the things that make you happy and at the same time do the things that make you alive. Work so that you can have the finances to stay alive, and travel so that you can have the life you need. (Work+Travel=Life)

For those who are still making their work a hindrance for them to travel, DON’T!! Consider your work not as a hindrance but a stepping stone for you to travel and experience the world. What are those vacation leaves for if you do not use them to travel? Ayt?

So that's how this blog was created, it all boiled down to what I was passionately interested in doing and that is TRAVELING!!! (isn’t it obvious, kaya nga travel blog ito eh keke). Tra-abel was derived from my name Abel and from the word Travel. Travel + Abel = Tra-Abel*(00)*

As I said I hate to construct long paragraphs but I guess, with my first blog entry, I already made a novel. Keke. With that, I sincerely hope that I will have plenty of travels this year, and plenty of helpful blogs to post for you guys to read.  Lemme leave you with the words from the NIDO commercial:

Expose…. Explore…. & Experience…!!!

Planning: My First Time of a Not-So-Solo-Backpack-Traveling!

Many say that the first time is always the hardest! But I would like to believe that

"My first time, hopefully, would be the most meaningful and happiest of my travels."

Palawan boasts some of the famous limestone beaches (Coron & El Nido) in the Philippines. There are plenty of feature articles about the beauty of its paradise islands scattered around the southwestern part of the Philippine Archipelago. This is one of the reasons why I would like Palawan to be the first of my tra-abel trips and travels.

Way back in 90’s during one of my HEKASI classes we were given a project of compiling famous landmarks and tourist spots in the Philippines. That was my first time encountering the beauty of Palawan. Although it's only depicted on a postcard, that image of paradise never left my mind, it has been imprinted hard in my head.

And so, more than 10 years after learning those things from my Philippine geography Class, I will be able to finally land my feet there and explore the town crazy like Diego (anyone who’s not familiar with him, he is Dora’s cousin an action-adventure hero with a heart :D) .

Sometime in May 2013, I heard the news that my friend Mitch (A geologist in profession but a traveler at heart.. LOL) will be travelling to Palawan for a 4-day vacation. At dahil inggitero lng ako (And because I'm jealous), I hurriedly looked for a cheap plane ticket going to Palawan to join them in their escapade. I found one via Monday Madness of AIRPHILEXPRESS (PAL Express now) costing Php1500 round trip ticket. Without further ado, I booked it before the ticket goes out of sale.

I immediately browsed the web for exciting things to do in Palawan. My mind was firmly set on the island hopping at El Nido not only because of the reviews and blogs I read about it but also because it is the most visited place of Hollywood actors whenever they visit the Philippines (at dahil feeling humahollywood din ako hahaha). I asked my friend regarding their itinerary and if we can work things out to just consolidate our itineraries. Sadly, there is no meeting of the minds (parang law on contracts lang LOL) that have the weak side of my head thinking, if I should just throw away my itinerary and just go along with hers.

Then on a second thought, it has always been my dream to do a solo backpack traveling. I had always been inspired by the blogs I read about solo traveling. The courageous side of my head believes that I should stand firm with my itinerary, that way, I will not have any regrets with my trip, I can experience and get a feel of solo travelling (a timely practice for my out of the country travel plans).

The courageous side of my head won, and decided that imma go solo for my Palawan trip. I may not be on the safe side, I may be risking a lot of things for this solo travelling pero sabi nga sa commercial ng Nido “Look at me mom…, I got stinky……, I got dirty…. but see, I learned.” Expose.. Explore.. Experience LOL.
