Palawan Day 1: Puerto Princesa City Tour

July 20, 2013

30 minutes after 8 in the morning, the flight attendant of PAL Express Flight 2P 941 announced our arrival at Puerto Princesa City airport. I was excited and at the same time nervous, for I have no idea what adventures await me for my first Tra-Abel Trip!

Upon alighting the aircraft, I immediately texted Manong Rommel, my contact person for the Puerto Princesa City day tour. It really saves you time if you arrange your tour/itinerary in advance. A lot of information is available online, so have the patience to look for one, it really pays off. Anyhow, here is the contact number of our Tricycle Driver cum Tour Guide for the Puerto Princessa City Tour:

PPS City Tour Trike Contact Info
Manong Rommel - 0919 879 9501
PPS City Tour - Php600 for 2 persons (300 each)/ Php500 if you're alone
*The rate is standard for all the PPS Department of Tourism accredited trikes but you can always try to ask for discounts.

Manong Rommel was very helpful in a lot of ways, he's very knowledgeable and friendly, so don't hesitate to ask a lot of questions and trivia about the places/spots you're going.

The city tour lasted for 3 and a half hours and we were able to visit the following places:

1. Crocodile Farm
The Croco Farm experience was a delight. For as low as Php 40.00, you get to enjoy an organized tour around crocodile farm. You will be able to see the Baby Crocs, Adult Crocs, Philippine Eagle and other exotic animals. At the entrance of Crocodile Farm you can find a restaurant that offers cheap but stunningly delicious crocodile meat (croco sisig) for Php 180.00 only.

School of Crocs? LOL

2. Butterfly Garden & Tribal Village
If you're still not satisfied with your wildlife adventure at Crocodile Farm, Butterfly Garden is the place to be. This garden is really enchanting and magical (Encantadia lang ang peg!). You will be amazed by the numerous varieties of butterflies in their different stages that can be seen around. And aside from that, butterfly garden also hosts a number of other exotic animals and people (?). Here you can find Palawan Bearcats, Scorpions, Beetles, Mantis, Millipedes and Geckos. In addition, you can also learn how the native tribe of Palawan lived during the early years.

Plenty of butterflies, pity i was only able to capture one! hehe

No Entrance Fees for the following tourist spots!

3. Mitra's Ranch

4. Baker's Hill

5. Bay Walk

6. INC PPS Locale

7. Blue Cathedral

Our PPS City Tour concluded at exactly 12:30 in the afternoon. We had our lunch at Ugong Restaurant. This is also where our van picked us up for our trip to El Nido, Palawan. Oh and by the way, we arranged our van going to El Nido right after our plane landed. A lot of van drivers and operators are offering their services outside PPS airport. We agreed at Php 500.00 per person for pick up at Ugong Restaurant around 1:00 PM.

At exactly the agreed time, our van was already outside Ugong ready to take us to paradise - El Nido!
